Labour’s Plan for Britain’s Future and a Better Future for Swindon

In Swindon many people tell me they feel the recovery isn’t benefiting them and after 5 years of the Tories Swindon hasn’t seen the real change we need.

Ed’s speech at Labour Party Conference showed that Labour’s Plan for Britain’s Future will build a country that works for the many rather than just a privileged few.

I want to see Swindon restored as an economic powerhouse. I think Labour’s promise to rebuild our economy and get our young people back to work is very important. Creating one million green jobs and a Youth Jobs Guarantee are exactly what we need in Swindon.

I am also proud to see Labour promise to boost apprenticeships and ensure as many school leavers go on to apprenticeships as go to university.

It is crucial that we can kick start the regeneration of Swindon town centre. Swindon is a town with huge potential but people are frustrated by the Tories failure.

Our action to cut business rates will help the high street and breathe new life into Swindon. Labour’s plans will also unlock infrastructure investment and will help lay the foundations for a better Swindon.

And I am delighted to see Labour promise to rebuild our NHS – we created it, we saved it and our plan will restore it again. 20,000 new nurses and 8000 new GPs paid for by closing tax loopholes and a mansion tax will build a world class 21st century health service.

Labour’s Plan for Britain’s Future shows we can a build a better future for Britain and a better future for Swindon.
